Acupuncture

Advanced Spine & Rehab is very unique in that we also offer acupuncture. Acupuncture has excellent research and results for managing chronic musculoskeletal pain, increasing blood flow and healing, and treating painful nerve problems. Typical acupuncture patients are those who have experienced low back or neck pain for many years and have been unable to find relief with other forms of traditional medicine. Acupuncture provides another option for managing chronic pain that has no side effects from the treatment which sometimes occurs with medicinal pain management therapies.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that originated in China several thousand years ago and has been used by physicians in the U.S. since the 1970s. Acupuncture consists of inserting fine needles in specific points to help muscles relax, increase blood flow, and signal pain-relieving endorphins in the brain.
Many research studies provide evidence for acupuncture's effectiveness in treating back pain, neck pain, nerve pain, and osteoarthritis.
Acupuncture needles are not like the hypodermic needles that are used to give shots and injections. Acupuncture needles are very slender and flexible, as fine as a hair or fine fiber thread, and they do not force liquid into the skin. Some people may experience a little tingling sensation, but new patients usually are surprised at how comfortable, pleasant, and relaxing acupuncture treatment is. Acupuncture needles are sterile disposable needles that are shipped in individually sealed packages and are used only once.
