Dr. Craig Peterson DC, CES, PES
Dr. Craig Peterson is a dynamic physician currently practicing in St. George and Enterprise, Utah. Dr. Peterson's number one goal is finding the root cause of a patient's problem and prescribing the most effective combination of treatments to maximize one's healing process. His philosophy is to not cover up symptoms, but to fix the cause.
Dr. Peterson is a native of Utah and graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor's degree in zoology. He was then accepted and attended Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) in Portland, OR. WSCC is nationally known for its superior academics and scientific and medically minded corriculum. After four additional years of schooling and interning, he earned his doctorate of chiropractic. Dr. Peterson is passionate about optimal patient care.
Sports Medicine
Dr Peterson has a strong interest in working with athletes which has allowed him to pursue broader treatment avenues with new sport medicine techniques. While in Portland, Dr. Peterson was able to take post-graduate courses and be trained in new state of the art physical medicine techniques like Kinesio Taping Method and Graston Technique. He is currently the only professional in St. George who practices these advanced techniques. For the past year he has practiced with Advanced Spine and Rehab as the official chiropractic clinic for the St. George Roadrunners and St. George Blitz pro/semi-pro teams. In addition, Dr. Peterson is one of the first chiropractors in the United States to be credentialed through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)—the leading training organization of the NBA’s athletic trainers. NASM has certified him as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist. This unique training as a physician and sports medicine practitioner allows him to blend Chiropractic and the best of sports medicine for optimal results.
Auto Injuries
Treating patients who have been injured in car accidents is a second specialty of Dr. Peterson's. He has completed a year long certification training through the prestigious Spine Research Institute of San Diego in whiplash and brain tramatology. He has completed over 100 hours of post-graduate training while studying whiplash trauma from Dr. Arthur Croft, Dr. Laurence Nordoff, Dr. Roger Russell, and others. Dr. Peterson has become familiar with the epidemiology of whiplash and brain injuries, the mechanical factors of motor vehicle crashes, and the wide range of physical injuries and clinical conditions that can occur. He has learned how to conduct comprehensive physical examinations and all about the latest applications of cutting edge imaging technologies such as CT, MRI, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and others. These programs included an intense discussion of forensic risk analysis which considers how the various known risk factors can increase a person’s chance for injury or long-term symptoms. Dr. Peterson provides patients with the most effective and comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation strategies to ensure optimal outcome potential.
